Pregnancy or prenatal period demands good nourishment for the health of the baby and mother. Well planned meals made with fresh ingredients provide all the nutrients required. A complete diet during this period is one that contains most of the essential nutrients your body needs and one that provides the right balance of calcium, carbohydrate, fat and protein without too many calories.
There should be a scheduled meal containing all the required minerals to be provided to the moms- to -be.
Here’s what you require on daily basis:
Dairy foods: Dairy foods provide the calcium that your baby needs to grow and that you need to keep your bones strong. To get sufficient calcium, drink milk and eat yogurt.
Protein: Select lean meats, poultry, fish, and eggs prepared with minimal amounts of fat. Have lentils, split peas, nuts, and seeds.
Fruits and vegetables: fresh fruits including banana or any seasonal fruit and fresh vegetables. Try to have fresh vegetable soup and fresh juice is always good for expecting mother.
Whole grains: It is recommended to have a minimum of six servings of whole grains such as bread, cereals, crackers, and pasta provide fibre, which is very important during pregnancy.
